The 5 Steps I Used to Get Out of Rock Bottom

My Journey From Rock Bottom
These are the 5 Steps I took to get out of rock bottom:
Became self-aware that I was at a rock bottom
I had to ask myself a question, “Is this the life that I envisioned?”
After sulking and throwing a pity party for a long period of time, I realized that my situation never improved. The vail in front of my eyes was finally opened.
I couldn’t sleep well knowing that this was the life I was living. My pain of staying put finally outweighed the pain of changing my life.
I knew at this point that I was ready.
Changed my mindset to understanding that I had nothing to lose, yet everything to gain if I took action
There are 0 expectations for a person at rock bottom. People often check out and leave that person alone when they notice a consistent massive decline.
I had friends reach out until they didn’t reach out anymore. After a while, it’s just you.
There is so much freedom in that. You can make mistake after mistake with no one noticing.
The only time they’ll notice is when you finally rise up from the ashes.
Attacked the “Low Hanging Fruit”
The “Low Hanging Fruit” is defined as the lowest effort action that will have long term benefits.
In even simpler terms, it’s one step in the right direction.
This is completely dependent on the individual.
My fruit was a gym membership. It was all I knew how to do in the moment.
3 months later and 27lbs down, I could say it was one of the greatest small investments I’ve ever made.
Listened to worship music
There is something about worship music that nourishes your soul.
I grew up listening to hip-hop, and I still listen to it, but there is something supernatural about listening to people exalt their praise for the almighty God.
Try listening to worship music while in the gym, and see if you can lift the entire building.
Kept quality family around
The simple truth is this: If I did not have my family around, I would not be here.
Having that constant reassurance from them during my darkest moments gave me the small confidence that one day this shall pass.
Even though you personally may not have gone through rock bottom, you can still use these steps to get out of any situation.
Learn from me.
Whatever situation you’re in shall pass if you take action.
Through that action, you’ll always be better for it.
