Building A Strong Foundation

What is yours built on?

Building A Strong Foundation

How do you cope with events that don’t go as planned?

How do you conduct yourself when setbacks happen back to back?

Do you succumb to your emotions and spiral out of control every time?

Oftentimes, I notice how some people are unable to overcome adversity quickly and I’ll be the first to admit that I used to be one of them.

Even at the slightest setback, it would take me days or weeks for me to get over.

Looking back, it was my lack of a strong foundation that made it difficult for me to progress.

My foundation was built upon caring so much about my looks and future career aspirations.

My foundation was superficial.

In late 2020-2022, when I was overweight and had no idea about my future, my foundation crumbled.

I felt completely hopeless and empty. This led to my victim mindset.

A lack of identity in one self will always lead to a victim mentality.

When your identity is weak, your foundation becomes superficial and the Bible says that this is like building a house on sand.

When your identity is in Christ, your foundation becomes unshakeable.

Matthew 7:24-25 (ESV) states: “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”

Through Christ, no amount of setbacks, failures, or heartbreaks can keep you hopeless or unable to get back up.

Ever since I made the decision to reset my foundation in God’s Word, I might still experience challenges but the difference is that I now rely on Him to keep going.

I trust that if He brought me to this challenge that He will continue to get me through it.

And He will do the same for you if you make Him the foundation of every aspect of your life.

Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray for all of those reading this newsletter that they make you the foundation of their lives.

I pray that everyone in The John 5 Movement remembers Matthew 7:24-25 when they are struggling and that you are our rock.

I pray that they continue to seek you Lord whenever they experience a setback, hopelessness or failure because they know you will help them get back up again.

I pray also that they continue to seek you even when times are incredible. May they pray without ceasing, and make you the overall focus in their life.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Have a blessed week.
