Don't Make This Mistake

You can make mistakes but don't make this one.

Will You Keep Your Word?

There is one moment in the summer of 2021 I remember vividly.

My dad is sitting on the couch watching TV and I decide to make him a promise.

I’m at my heaviest weight yet I’m motivated to say…

“Dad, by the end of this year, I’ll be back to my normal self. I’m going to get back in shape and lose this weight.”

I was thinking he would be overjoyed and excited that I was finally getting serious but all he said was…

“Okay Matt. I hope it happens.”

The truth is that this was the 4th or 5th time I told my dad that I was going to change.

My dad lost his trust in me.

When you continually do not keep your word, even your biggest supporters will begin to lose trust in you.

Do you want that?

Do you want to be known as someone who falls short of deadlines, promises, and commitments?

If you are not confident in your words, it’s best to stay quiet.

In the book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 5, Verses 4-7 it says, “If you make a promise to God, keep your promise. Don't be slow to do what you promised. God is not happy with fools. Give God what you promised to give him".

While this verse is about making promises to God, it has two good principles to remember for making promises to everyone.

1) If you promise something, make sure you keep it.

2) Don’t be slow to follow through.

Don’t make the same mistake that I did by waiting over a year to keep my promise.

Instead, keep your word and follow through quickly.

If you are finally ready to keep your word and lose your weight keeping it off forever…

Let’s talk to make it happen.
