How to Find Your Calling
In 4 Steps

Your Calling Is Around The Corner
I was asked this question yesterday, “Matt, how does one find their life’s calling/mission?”
As Christians, God calls all of us as a community to love Jesus, love one another, and make disciples.
But what does that mean for us each individually?
Everybody has their own life’s mission, but only a handful find it.
Choose to be part of the handful.
Do not let life’s difficulties discourage you.
Do not let wordly sinful nature distract you.
It might take you longer than you’d like but breakthrough is around the corner.
Here are the 4 Steps to Finding Your Calling:
The first step is asking the question: What am I put on this earth to do?
Questions breed self-awareness. This is key to make sure you’re on the right path for you and not anyone else.
The second step is evaluate your skills.
What are you good at? Where do you need development?
If you don’t know what you are good at yet then you must start challenging yourself to try new things.
And remember that just because you aren’t good at something right now, doesn’t mean you can’t get better at it over time. Look into free YouTube videos, paid courses, and mentors to help you navigate your current and potential skills.
The third step is evaluate an “eye-opening” or challenging moment in your life or someone close to you that has shaped you into the person today?
For example, let’s look at my own story…
In 2020, I went through a drug psychosis that led me to hitting rock bottom (read more about it here). It took me a few years but I ended up getting my life back on track learning many important lessons in health and Biblical wisdom that led me to launching The John 5 Movement.
There is no doubt that this is my life’s calling.
Now I help other men who might have been in a similar position navigate their next steps or prevent men from getting anywhere close to my same rock bottom.
Remember that your darkest moments can turn into your greatest blessings later on.
Think about how an “eye-opening” or difficult moment can match with your skillset/talent to contribute to something or create your own.
The fourth and most crucial step: Ask God to reveal your vocation to you.
Spend time in the Word. Spend time in prayer. Seek Him.
In His perfect timing, He will reveal.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105
If God can do it for me, He can do it for you too.
Be blessed.
