The Greatest Words By 50 Cent

“It’s Not About The Product, It’s About Where It’s Located.”

Yesterday at 6am, I discovered one of the best motivational videos.

50 Cent, of all people, gave me a message that I needed.

He shared the analogy of the price of bottled water in different locations.

“A bottle of water is $1 at the store, $2 at the gym, $4 at an airport, and $7 on a flight.

Same water, different price tag.

Why?

Because it’s not about the product, it’s about where it’s located.”

How many athletes, actors, musicians, CEO’s, etc. have changed places and then had a breakthrough in their career?

Many!

They went to new places where their self-perceived value was appreciated by others.

I remember this conversation I had with a friend of mine a year ago.

He told me that the small town lifestyle wasn’t for him.

He couldn’t imagine himself staying in the same place surrounded by people who didn’t share the same interests, values, or career ambitions as him.

So he left, moved to a bigger city, met the right people, and started his own coaching business.

Now, his business is comfortably in the six figure range.

He had the product in his head long before he moved but he needed to go to a place where it could be maximized.

He had to go where others saw his vision and were willing to support him in the process.

Don’t doubt your worth. Sometimes it’s about changing locations.

If there there people around you who keep discouraging your goals, don’t always change your goals but rather change who you share them with and where you decide to pour into them.

While physically moving can often be a solution, I know this isn’t realistic for everyone.

If you can’t move, here are 3 other ideas to find like-minded people:

1) Search for an in-person community group. (Ex: Through local church, MeetUp.com, EventBrite.com)

2) Be intentional about networking online through social media to find your people.

3) Start your own group. (Like how I’m doing with The John 5 Movement)

We are all one conversation or place away from our lives completely being changed, for the better or worse.

Each person and place can be a catalyst for your dreams happening or stalling.

That’s why it’s important to choose the right place to physically be and who you surround yourself.

So who and what will you choose?
