You May Not Know Now

But You'll Understand Later

Continue When The Road is Uncertain

As I was reading through the Book of Job this morning, I stumbled upon Job 16:16-17 which states:

My face is red with weeping,
 dark shadows ring my eyes;
yet my hands have been free of violence
 and my prayer is pure.”

The entire book of Job is a conversation between Job and his 3 friends, each of them giving an opinion/reason of why Job is suffering. This verse was a part of Job’s rebuttal towards them.

The words struck me because in life you can live playing it safe and doing everything “right”, yet still have disasters come into your life.

Job was blameless and a faithful servant to God, yet he still lost his family, health, and entire livelihood.

Of course, his natural instinct was to ask: “Why God, Why me? What did I do?” as it’s tempting to analyze past mistakes.

But, even in the midst of his rebuttals and suffering, not once did Job ever curse God, even when his wife told him to do so.

He still trusted God, even when things on the outside looked dire.

In the midst of all his suffering, Job learned such powerful lessons about God.

And was rewarded for his perseverance in the end.

You may not understand your suffering now, but believe there is no hurt that’s ever wasted with God.

You will be rewarded, in due time.
